Australian Capital Territory Travel Guide

Culture, galleries and the nation's backyard

Canberra is Australia's most underrated city break destination. The national capital holds an extraordinary concentration of museums, galleries and cultural institutions, all free and world-class. Surround that with the wild Namadgi National Park, excellent wineries in the Canberra District and a burgeoning cafe and dining scene.

Best Time to Visit

March to May (Autumn)

Canberra's autumn is spectacularly photogenic. The Floriade tulip festival runs in spring, but for pure beauty, the deciduous trees around Lake Burley Griffin and in the suburb of Yarralumla turn gold and red throughout March and April.
