🌤️

Best Time to Visit

May to October (Dry Season)

The dry season across tropical Queensland brings reliably sunny weather with low humidity, calm seas ideal for reef visits and no stinger risk in most coastal areas. The Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast are great year-round.

Accommodation Tips

Budget (hostels, camping)

$30 to $75 per night

Cairns and the Gold Coast have large, social hostels. Whitsunday camping on Hook Island is a great budget option.

Mid-range (motels, resorts)

$130 to $250 per night

Airlie Beach has solid mid-range resorts. Noosa gets expensive in peak season so book early or consider Peregian Beach nearby.

Premium (boutique resorts)

Hamilton Island and Qualia on Hamilton Island are bucket-list splurges. Hayman Island offers accessible luxury for less.

Hidden Gem

Eungella National Park

Two hours inland from Airlie Beach, Eungella is the best place in Queensland to spot wild platypus in the early morning and late afternoon at Broken River. Far fewer visitors than the reef towns and wonderfully peaceful.
